A lovely cup and saucer, with matching bread and butter plate, from the Homer Laughlin China Company in the shape called "Eggshell Georgian" in the pattern called Marilyn - Blue. These lovely pieces have the embossed trim, gold decoration at the rim, handle and center, and a wonderful pale blue border with gold trim and filigree (see pattern #G3419 at replacements.com).

These 1951 vintage pieces are in very good condition. The cup is 4 inches wide at the rim and 2.5 inches high; the saucer is 6 inches wide. The B&B plate is about 6.25 inches wide. Homer LaughlinNantucket
Eggshell Nautilus Oval Serving Platter, Gold Trim

A Homer Laughlin China Company oval serving tray or platter in the Eggshell Nautilus shape in the pattern called "Nantucket." This piece is in very good condition for such vintage dinnerware, with very crisp detailing to the flower design around the rim, very intact gold tirm, and only the slightest hints of utensil marks on the tray.

This oval platter measures 11.5 inches from embossed handle to handle and 9 inches across the middle. The edges are well defined and free of chips or cracks. Overall, it is in very good condition; there is one indentation (about the size of a finger tip) on the back rim, but it is under the glaze and original to manufacture.

The tray is stamped with the HLC Eggshell Nautilus logo (below and at right), along with the data and factory code "C 51 N 5" (1951). Price: $14

Vintage 1927
Homer Laughlin China
Serving Bowl

A richly colored serving bowl from the Homer Laughlin China Company. According to Lehner's Encyclopedia of Marks, the mark on the bottom of this bowl dates it to November, 1927.

This vintage piece is in remarkably good condition to be 80 years old. It measures 9 inches wide at the rim and 2 inches high. The center is decorated with an elaborate basket holding fruit and floral sprays in yellow, brown, charcoal, and black; it is very intact with little wear and only faint crazing. There are light hairlines or stress cracks on the underside base, which do not show on the front.

The rim was probably originally decorated in an orange luster, which seems to have been the fad at the time. This bowl has lost most of that, and what remains (on about half the bowl rim) is a faint yellow.

The underglaze green mark reads:

Homer Laughlin
Made in U.S.A.
K 7 N 5

(Sauce) Bowls

Four (4) rimmed fruit/ dessert (or sauce) bowls from Homer Laughlin China Company, in the Brittany shape, in a pattern described as "Red sections, no floral."

Two of the four bowls are in good condition. One bowl has a fine hairline down the rim (photo below), and one has a 1/4 inch chip (see photos). All four bowls have light crazing, but very little utensil wear. The burgundy red border is intense and very complete on all four pieces.

MAJESTIC Creamer
Brittany Shape

A richly decorated creamer in the pattern MAJESTIC from Homer Laughlin China Company, in the Brittany shape, described as "Multicolor floral, burgundy band."

This pretty creamer is beginning to show its age with browning (it could use a strong peroxide bath to brighten it up); it is not as bad as the flash of my camera makes it look! There are no chips or cracks, but there is crazing throughout. The gold trim is intact, as is the burguny band and floral decoration.

This piece is stamped under glaze in green with the Homer Laughlin logo, and the manufacturing marks
"F 40 N 6". Price: $8.00.

Four Rimmed Fruit/Dessert
(Sauce) Bowls

Brittany Shape

Four (4) rimmed fruit/ dessert (or sauce) bowls from Homer Laughlin China Company, in the Brittany shape, in a pattern described as "Red leaves on rim, smooth."

All four bowls are in very good condition. There is a bit of wear to the red leaf trim on two bowls (actually appears original to manufacture). There are no chips or cracks, and only very light utensil marks. These bowls are unmarked, but are shown at replacements.com as pattern HLC3000. Price: $12.00.
