China Sugar Bowl with Lid A vintage sugar bowl with lid from Syracuse China in the pattern called "Woodbine." This pretty piece measures 4 inches high (without the lid) and about 3.25 inches wide near the base. It is in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks, flakes, hairlines, or flaws that I can find. The bottom is marked "Carefree True China / by Syracuse / Woodbine / Made in U.S.A." Price: $10.00.
Syracuse
China Restaurant Ware Plate: A neat restaurantware plate made by Syracuse China (OPCo), with a white body and two green bands around the rim. At the top if a three-color logo with the letters I A C; I can imagine several possibilities for the CIA (the obvious, Central Intelligence Agency, or Culinary Institute of America, or it might be IAC!?!), but I've been told it's probably the Illinois Athletic Club. A solid, heavy plate, it measures 9.75 inches wide at the rim. There are no chips, cracks, hairlines, or flakes. There is heavy utensil wear, as you would expect from a vintage restaurant piece (barely visible in the photo at right). The bottom has two marks. One is "O.P.CO. / Syracuse - China / D-11." The other is for a restaurantware distributor, E.A. Hinrichs & Co. of Chicago. Price: $7.50.
