Dresden China Anemones
Old Plate, Coupe Shape, Gold Trim

This old decorative plate, made by Dresden China (probably in the early 1920s), features beautifully colored flowers on a white background, with two bands of gold trim.

This plate is in very good condition. There are no flaws that I can see (except bumps under the glaze, original to manufacture). There are no chips or cracks, and no crazing; there are a very few faint utensil marks. There is also some wear to the gold trim (photo below), but the flowers (which I think are decals, not hand-painted) are richly colored and intact. The plate measures 7-3/8 inches wide.

This lovely piece is simply marked Dresden China (in business from c. 1875 to 1927). Price: $12.

Antique 8.25-inch Plate from American Dresden China
"Woodcock" Pattern

A wonderfully designed, 8.25 inch plate from Dresden Pottery Company (according to Warman, in business from 1875 to 1927, in East Liverpool, Ohio). This charming plate shows a pair of feeding woodcocks (decal), surrounded by trees and blue sky. There is a very ornate, pink and green luster (lustre) rim around the outer embossed edge, along with a dark band around the rim.

This piece is in fair to good condition, especially considering its age. There is a light but visible hairline at 2:00 (shown in the photo above); there is also visible crazing throughout. There are no chips, fleabites, or flakes around the rim edge.

The woodcock (snipe) decoration is richly colored and intact, with no scratches or wear spots. (I suspect this was always used as a display plate.) The back is marked with a green stamp for "Dresden / China." I think it is really a remarkable piece of vintage American dinnerware. Price: $25.00.
