"Ruffled" Bowl

A very nicely shaped "ruffled" (heavily scalloped, with arched ribs) serving bowl is from theMoritz Zdekauer Porcelain Factory (M Z Austria). This delicate piece is decorated with pink-red roses and a gold garland around the rim.

The bowl measures about 7-5/8 inches long at the tips, 5 inches wide, and 2 inches high at the end. It is in good to very good condition. There are no cracks or crazing, but there are a couple of very small flakes on the under-edge of the scalloped rim; they are not visible from the top or front (see closeup photos with red arrows for details).

The bottom of the bowl has a dark green mark for
"M Z Austria." There are also two impressed numbers (933 and 2). According to the Kovels' website, "MZ Austria is a mark used by Moritz Zdekauer on porcelains made at his Altrolau, Austria, works from 1884 to 1909." Price: $15.00.

Habsburg China
Small Vase

A very pretty small porcelain vase from Habsburg China, Austria. The small piece is decorated with embossed and beaded scrollwork around the rim and base, and is lightly decorated with what appears to be hand-painted lilacs, with light purple flowers and green leaves and stems. The piece is clearly marked "Habsburg China."

This piece is in fair to good condition. There is one hairline on the rim; it is lightly visible on both inside and out, but passes the thumb test (when you run your thumbnail over it, you don't feel a crack, visible in photo at right, on back left edge). There are no other chips or cracks or other damage that I can see. The embossed rim and floral designs are nicely colored and very intact. It measures 4.25 inches high and about 3 inches wide at the rim.

The bottom is marked in green with a double-headed bird logo and the words "Made In Habsburg China Austria." Price: $10.00.
