Casa Maga

I've often explored the Ville in Italia website, and have fallen in love with many of their offerings. Since there didn't seem to be many apartments available in Naples, we opted to stay in "Casa Maga" in Sorrento.

After opening the giant iron gates of Villa Gharzili and going past the cats in the courtyard of this old villa, you went down a short flight of stairs to our doorway. Inside you found a large, comfortable apartment (3 bedrooms, 2 baths).

Although not "luxurious," the apartment had many nice details, including hand-painted tiles on the floors.

The best part of the apartment was the porches that looked out over a small garden and the Bay of Naples.

The garden was filled with palms and pines, as well as camellias (in bloom!). You could walk around and see terrific views of Sorrento and Naples, or Vesuvius and Capri, or just sit on the porch and have breakfast.

I spent New Years' Eve in the garden watching the thousands of fireworks being shot off all over the bay. It was an incredible sight.
