Imperial Stone
Eastern Star
Antique Dinner Plate (Needs TLC)

A gorgeous polychrome dinner plate in a pattern called "Eastern Star." It features a scallopped rim, brown border with orange and dark blue floral designs, and a floral center and border.

This older plate measures 10-3/8 inches wide. It has six large chips around the rim. There is also fine overall crazing, and some heavier craze lines on the underside.

The plate is clearly marked on the bottom with "Imperial Stone / Eastern Star / J-R," along with a red number 3723 in script.

I have not been able to identify a maker or age with certainty. The few references I can find online (such as at Christie's) dates some Imperial Stone plates to the 1830s, and lists makers as John Ridgway (which might explain the J-R). The Morley & Ashworth Company is also sometimes referenced for making "Imperial Stone"; if so, their script marks would date the plate to 1877. Price: $15.00.
