Zanesville Stoneware Bulb Bowl

A very old, lovely planter bowl from Zanesville Stoneware Company of Zanesville, Ohio. I believe this is the Zasko glaze. This heavy piece is in good condition. It has some light flea bites to the chi-detailing (shown in the second photo), but no cracks or hairlines, and its design is very well defined. Price: $75.

Rich Brown Glaze Zanesville Stoneware
“Stoneage Modern” Jardiniere

A large jardiniere or pot from Zanesville Stoneware Company of Zanesville, Ohio. This particular shape with the ringed glaze matches the "Stoneage Modern"pots of the 1960s (Zanesville Stoneware Company, by Rans, Ralston, Russel, pages 267-69).

This very-solid, rustic-looking pot is in excellent condition; there are uneven spots and bumps original to manufacture (and typical ZSC). It has no chips, cracks, hairlines, or crazing. Its banded rings are well defined and the brown color is rich (and a bit darker than the flash of my camera makes it look, photo at left is without flash). It is extremely clean on the inside as well, with just a bit of florist residue on the bottom.

This heavy pot is 5.25 inches high and 7 inches wide across the top rim. The unglazed bottom is has a raised mark "4506" (and a red store mark 15). Price: $18.

Rich Blue-Green Glaze
Zanesville Stoneware
“Stoneage Modern” Jardiniere

A medium-size jardiniere or pot from Zanesville Stoneware Company of Roseville, Ohio. This particular piece is glazed in a rich blue-green glaze (similar to robin's egg blue). What makes it special, in addition to the great glaze, is that the spun ribs run vertical, rather than horizontal. I've only come across a few pieces of ZSC with this design.

This very-solid, rustic-looking pot is in very good condition; there are uneven spots and bumps original to manufacture and typical to this pattern. The finish is much more solid (fewer glaze pops and flakes) than I've found on most Stoneage Modern pieces. It's also very clean on the interior.

This heavy pot is 4.5 inches high and 6.25 inches wide across the top rim. The semi-glazed bottom has a raised mark "4505." Price: $15.00.
