Ungemach Pottery Company (UPCO)

Beautiful Multi-color Glaze:
UPCO (Ungemach) Planters

UPCO makes the most cool planters! Here are TWO lovely pieces from UPCO in richly colored glazes -- one in bright orange, one in blue-gray with white spatters.

The orange planter (numbered 1006) has a sharply detailed geometric pattern of pyramids and squares. It measures 6.25 inches by 4 inches at the rim, and sits 2.75 inches high. It is in very good condition, with a little mineral staining and dirt to the interior, but no chips, cracks, hairlines, or flakes.

The blue-gray and white planter (numbered 196) has crossed curtain design. It measures 6 inches by 4 inches at the rim, and sits 2.5 inches high. There is a bit of light dirt on the interior, and there are a couple of very minor glaze skips (original to manufacture) on the exterior (in among the white spatter spots). Price for Pair: $12

Ungemach Pottery (UPCO) -- Roseville, Ohio. Founded by Fred Ungemach in 1937, operated to 1984. Made mostly garden, decorative, and floral pieces. Known for "attractive designs, good glazes and a durable body..." (Lehner, Encyclopedia of Pottery Marks)
