This very pretty vase from Emerson Creek Pottery is hand thrown and painted in a pattern of green leaves with red fruit on a pale tan background. Emerson Creek is in Bedford, Virginia, and is run by artists who make exquisite modern pottery using old-fashioned methods. (This design is reminiscent of olive branches from Italy.) The small vase measures 5 inches high and 3.25 inches wide at the shoulder. It is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, hairlines, or fleabites. The really lovely design circles the vase in a graceful flowing style. This vase is clearly marked. There is a somewhat faded paper label that reads "Made in the USA and Lead-Free / Hand-Painted / Emerson Creek Pottery." There is also a stamped mark on the bottom for "Emerson Creek Pottery / Bedford, Va. 2002." On top of this is an original price sticker (for $9.45). (Note: You may notice this vase is a bit dusty or dirty. I usually wash items carefully, but I didn't want to damage the paper labels on this one, so it IS a bit dirty.) Price: $12.00.
A neat swirl clay vase from Sevierville Pottery of Tennessee. It is finished on the interior with a glossy brown glaze. The exterior is tan with blue and rust swirls, with an etched landscape of trees and bushes. This vase measures 4.75 inches high and 3.5 inches wide at the shoulder. It is in good condition, with no cracks, chips, flakes, or hairlines that I can find. There are some faint brown stains (probably fingerprints), shown in the photo at left. The bottom is stamped with a mark for "Sevierville Pottery Tennessee." Price: $10.00. |
