Small Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Co. This beautiful RRPCo jardiniere or planter is in terrific condition. It measures 5 inches high, 6 inches wide at the rim, and 4 inches wide at the base. Unpacked, it weighs 2.5 pounds. A rich golden brown color on top drips into a dark green with lighter highlights around the base. This piece is intricately patterned with geometric starbursts and circles (variously called sun and moon, moon and stars, and pins and needles). The bottom appears to be unmarked. I believe this is the jardiniere made by RRPCo, Roseville, Ohio USA, model number 1400. The jardiniere shows almost no wear or defect, with no cracks, hairlines, or crazing (any white spots in the photos are from the camera's flash). The inside is also in very good condition. Price: $25.00.
Robinson-Ransbottom Pottery Company 7 x 7 inch Planter, Wonderful Pink Glaze What a pretty pink piece of RRPCo garden ware—a gorgeous planter or garden dish from one of my favorite companies! This great planter is roughly 7 inches by 7 inches wide across the rim, and 3.75 inches in height. In a rich rosy pink, the draped cloth (or curtain) design is wonderful and very detailed. This planter is in very good condition for its age (I believe 1950s). There are no chips, cracks, flakes, fleabites, or other flaws that I can find. The piece is also free of crazing. There are some small pinhead-size bumps under the glaze, original to manufacture. The bottom of this very heavy piece has an incised mold mark, which reads "R R P Co / ROSEVILLE / U.S.A." Price: $12.00
TWO Lovely Pitchers, Great Colors Two gorgeous pitchers from RRPCo, in a very pretty indented design. One is cream with orange highlights, the other is cream with green highlights. This shape is shown on page 194 of "Warman's American Pottery & Porcelain." Pitcher 1: In shades of cream and soft coral orange, the decorative glaze on this piece is truly wonderful. It measures 5.75 inches high at the spout tip, about 6.5 inches wide (including handle), and 3.25 inches wide at the rim (4 inches wide at the foot). This pitcher is in good condition (I believe it may date from the 1930s or 1940s, but I haven't been able to pin it down). There is a shallow flake to the glaze on the tip of the spout, and a lot of very fine overall crazing, but nothing that detracts from the lovely display. There is some residue on the interior (looks like Cool-Aid crystals), that I think will wash off with a good soaking. Pitcher 2: Another gorgeous piece of RRPCo—a smaller pitcher or creamer from one of my favorite companies, in shades of cream and soft green. This piece measures 4.75 inches high at the spout tip, about 5 inches wide (including handle), and 2.75 inches wide at the rim (3.25 inches wide at the foot). This pitcher is in very good condition (I believe it may date from the 1930s or 1940s, but I haven't been able to pin it down). There are no chips or cracks, and very little crazing. There is some residue on the interior (looks like Cool-Aid crystals), that I think will wash off with a good soaking. The Arts and Crafts style front has some runs in the glaze, but that's original to manufacture. The bottom of both pitchers has a hand-written incised mark, which reads "USA / RRP Co. / Roseville Ohio / 1504." Price: $30.00 (for pair) |
