Rapp
Brothers, American Art Potteries:
|
||
A 1940s-1950s (mid-century modern) console or centerpiece bowl in a stylized petal shape. This is a novel bowl from the Rapp Brothers, owners of American Art Potteries (1947-1961, also Cliftwood and Midwest Potteries, at various times). It is shown on page 157 of the book, Morton Potteries: 99 Years, volume 2, by D. and B. Hall. This lovely bowl measures 10 inches in length, 6.5 inches wide, and 1.5 inches high. The glaze is a rich frothy pink on the insider and a white-to-brown blended glaze on the outside. There are no chips, fleabites, or cracks; there is some visible crazing (mainly on the base), consistent with age.

Rich
Colorful Glaze, The glaze on this very lovely pink planter is a rich pink with contrasting purple streaks to the "roof." The shape is shown in the Morton Pottery encyclopedia (by Hall) on page 202, from the 1950s. This wonderful piece measures about 4 inches wide, and is 3.5 inches high; it is 3 inches across the exposed footed-ring base. This planter is in terrific condition, with no chips, cracks, or hairlines. There is some light glaze at the corners, and some very light mineral stains on the inside, but otherwise is in excellent condition. (White spots are camera flash.) [Price: $15] |

Morton
Pottery Three terrific beer steins from Morton Pottery of Illinois, from the 1950s. I believe these are the 16-oz steins (they measure about 5 inches in height), and are in great condition for their age. There are some dings and bumps that are not serious and do not detract from their appeal, display, or use. These pieces are shown on page 194 of Volue 2, "Morton Potteries: 99 Years" by Hall. Price for the 3: $25 ![]() ![]() |
