Dryden Pottery

Lovely Dryden Square Vase,
Green and Blue Glaze, Ellsworth County Dark Tan Clay

This beautifully glazed Dryden Pottery small vase or pot is finished in a rich green glaze with dark blue drip around the rim.

This small piece measures 3 inches high and 2.75 inches wide on each side. It is in very good condition, with no chips, cracks, flakes, or hairlines; there is medium crazing throughout, consistent with age.

I believe this piece is older Dryden (late 1940s or early 1950s), when it was located in Ellsworth, Kansas. The unglazed bottom reveals a dark tan glaze (darker than the flash below makes it look), which Lehner defines as the Kansas clay (versus white clay in Arkansas) . It has an incised signature for Dryden, along with a number that appears to be "18.

Price: $25.00
