Wonderful Royal Copley Aquarium Vase:
Open Fish Vase Planter

What a wonderful vase! This is one of my all-time favorite finds. From Royal Copley, made by Spaulding, this three-dimensional design is described as the "Open Fish Vase Planters, 5-5/8 inches high with two runners" (as described on page 110 of "Royal Copley: Identification and Price Guide," by Mike Schneider, 1995).

The base is a little over 7 inches long and about 2.5 inches wide. The detail is rich, clear, and well molded, even to the air bubbles coming from the fish! As the photos show, there is overall light crazing, and several thin hairlines around the top (the worst is in the back). There is also one spot of discoloration on the right-front side. Price: $35

Royal Copley?
Quail Planter

Poor thing is missing some toes on its right (back-side) foot. Otherwise in perfect condition, with great air-brushed detail.

Price: $15

Royal Copley
8-inch Ivy Footed Vase
Wonderful 1950s Design

Offered for auction: A wonderful vintage 1950s vase from Royal Copley (Spaulding) in a tan and green design called "Ivy Footed Vase." The green ivy is particularly intense. This particular design is shown on page 119 of the Schneider "Royal Copley ID and Price Guide."

This mid-century period piece is in fair to good condition (especially for Royal Copley). Typically, there is one large hairline at the rim on the back side (not visible from the front). There is also a flake on the back edge of one foot, which looks like a firing flaw (stuck to the kiln). And typically R.C., there's fine overall crazing.

The vase measures 8-1/8 inches high and about 4 inches wide near the top. The base is not marked, but has the expected Copley sanded runners.

Price: $12.00.
