A nicely shaped round vase or planter that I believe is California pottery (although I haven't been able to pin down a maker). It measures 8.5 inches wide and 3.5 inches high, and I would guess it dates to the 1950s or 1960s. This vintage piece is in good condition. There is one spot with some discolored glaze lines on one side (see photos at top of listing) and some dark spots on the interior, but most of the exterior is in very good condition. There are no chips, fleabites, or cracks that I can see. The bottom has an incised mark for "USA CAL" and the number 2870 (both marks underglaze). Price: $12.00.
Two satin blue candle holders, with ribbed sides and rims. The best guess on the eBay PGP board was that these were made by Haldeman (California pottery). Each measures about 3 inches wide and 2 inches high at the tips. Both show medium crazing (visible in the photos at right), but there are no other flaws (no chips, cracks, flakes, or hairlines) except those original to manufacture and visible in the photos (such as firing marks on the bottom) that I can find. Both pieces are unmarked. Price: $12.00.
Beautiful
Pacific Pottery Plate (1940s) A truly lovely creamy yellow-white hand-decorated dinnerware plate from Pacific Pottery, decorated with hand-painted strawberries, yellow flowers, and green leaves (see Chipman's Encyclopedia of California Pottery, page 206). This large plate measures 10-5/8 inches wide. It is in very good condition, with a couple of slight craze lines around the curved verge. Otherwise, there are no cracks, hairlines, chips, or flakes. The decoration is richly colored and fully intact. The plate is stamped "Pacific / Hand Painted / Made in California / Pat. Pend. U.S.A." with the coastline view. Price: $75.00.
Offered for auction: A nicely colored pink open sugar bowl from Coors China of Inglewood, California. It measures 2-5/8 inches high at the rim, and about 3.75 inches wide across the middle. This thick vintage piece is in very good condition. There is a very small drying crack on the interior white glaze (not visible from the outside). There are no chips or cracks that I can see. There are no utensil marks, nor crazing. The bottom has a hard-to-read stamp for "H.F. Coors China / VAI (?) Chefsware / 31 / Inglewood, CA USA" in a bluish-black mark. Price: $7.00. |
