Cauldon Bouillon Cup A brilliant small bouillon bowl made by Cauldon China, one of the great English potteries operating out of Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. It has a beautiful green and gold trim on the inside and outside rim, and colorful floral bouquets on four sides. The handles, rim, and foot are thickly trimmed in gold, which is solid and intact. This piece measures 5-7/8 inches wide across the handles, 3-7/8 inches wide at the rim, and 1-7/8 inches high at the rim. It is in excellent condition, with no signs of use or wear (no chips, cracks, or crazing, no utensil marks). This lovely piece is marked "Cauldon England," which is shown in the Kovels' guide (page 166-N) as the mark in use from 1905-1920. There is also a decorator's hand-written number L482. Price: $25.00.
Pitcairns
Ltd., Tunstall, England: A pretty antique underplate or small serving tray from Pitcairns, Ltd. (Tunstall, Staffordshire, England, in business from 1895 to 1901). This pattern is called "Myra," decorated with blue floral designs on an embossed and scalloped rim. This small plate measures 8-5/8 inches long, and about 4-5/8 inches wide. It has some browning around the handles and rim edge (visible in the photos), and light utensil marks on the base. There are no flakes, chips, or cracks. It is marked on the bottom "Porcellaine Royale / Pitcairns Limited / Tunstall England /MYRA 7." Price: $12.00.
Lovely “Renown” Cup
from Royal Staffordshire Pottery, This lovely cup Royal Staffordshire is a true work of art. The cup is 3.75 inches wide at the rim, 1.75 inches at the base, and the handle adds another inch. It is decorated around the rim with two bands of gold trim, separated with a blue band of stylized flowers. The top (rim) gold is only about 50% present; the second band is solid. Below the rim is a blue / green floral design called "swag & band" (according to replacements.com, item #86581), from pattern 2228. It shows dark pink and dark yellow roses, with lightblue and light green decorations in a repeating motif. This particular version is called "Renown Blue Green." On the inside base is a pink rose, and another is on the right-inside fromthe handle (see photos below). The cup is in excellent condition, with no cracks, hairlines, or crazing. The colors and detail are rich inside and out. The bottom of the cup is marked with what appears to be the number 10, then "Renown" / Royal Staffordshire Pottery / Burslem / England / (and what appears to be) F. Below that is a dark pink number that MIGHT be 1225 and a 2 or an initial; it seems to be hand-written. Price: $9.00.
Crown
Devon Three cups and four saucers from Fielding's Crown Devon, in a pattern called "Floral." These pieces are an ivory-brown with embossed purple or mulberry flower designs and trim. Based on the mark, these would date from between 1917 and 1930. The 4 saucers measure 4.75 inches wide. The 3 cups are about 2 inches high high at the rim and 2-5/8 inches wide at the rim. Two saucers are in good to very good condition, and two are in fair to good condition, with a lot of light crazing that has begun to brown. The cups are in fair condition, with a lot of very fine brown crazing (worse on one, see closeup photos), and some light hairline or stree lines on one cup. This saucers are clearly marked "Crown Devon / Fielding's / Stoke on Trent / Made in England / FLORAL."
Offered for auction: This lovely tall thin vase is made by Elizabethan Staffordshire, England, designed with a wonderful thin bone china base with a design of pink flowers and green leaves with green trim on an embossed shell base. This piece is in very good to excellent condition. It measures 6.5 inches high, 1-3/8 inches wide at the rim, and 3 inches wide at the round base. It has no chips, cracks, flakes, or hairlines, and the trim and design is very rich and intact. The vase is marked in black on the base: Est.
